Exploring Somerset

Once you’ve found us and settled in, we highly recommend exploring all that Somerset has to offer. Here’s a few of our favourite sites, but if you’re looking for a more comprehensive guide, see our ‘Things to do’ section.

We are fortunate enough to have the beautiful Somerset countryside right on our doorstep. The Mendips are nearby for walking as well as Burrington Combe, Glastonbury Tor and many signposted walks. The Chew Valley - an area of outstanding natural beauty - lies between the A38 and the A37 and can be explored on foot or by car with stops at lovely country pubs for refreshment.

Cheddar Gorge and caves and Wookey Hole are all within easy reach. If shopping is on the agenda then Bristol, Bath or Clarks Village in Street are good destinations. Of course there are many other things to do and see in Bristol and Bath apart from shopping. The National Trust property of Tyntesfield at Wraxall is also well worth a visit. The nearby village of Wrington was the birth place of John Locke, the philosopher and Hannah More (1743-1833) the playwright and poet is buried in All Saints churchyard. Weston-super-Mare and Burnham-on-Sea are a few miles down the coast.
